World-Herald editorial: Time to find the solution on fire contract
Omaha needs a reasonable, fiscally sound contract with its fire union. To reach it, both sides — city government and firefighters — should negotiate seriously and constructively.
On the fire contract issue, Omahans need a solution, not a never-ending battle.
The Commission of Industrial Relations last week gave a needed push for the two sides to find that solution.
In a ruling, the CIR rejected the claim by the Omaha fire union that the city had negotiated in bad faith in contract talks, although the commission said it was a close call.
